X-Men Origins: Wolverine

Spent some time watching this movie just now. Not bad, especially when you get to see your childhood hero being turned into the big screen.

Origins explains the early history part of Wolverine, that tells us how and why he becomes the Wolverine that we love to see but don't know much about his dark past.

The story starts with James Logan aka Wolverine and his brother Victor Creed aka Sabretooth running away together as children in the mid 1850's after Logan accidentally kills their biological father who had murdered Logan's step father. After that, both of them served together in many wars and takes care of each other. If you're wondering why they don't age, it's because of their super healing abilities, most probably came with their other mutant powers.

After wandering here and there for a while, they are recruited by Major William Stryker to serve in a special military unit made up of mutants. Logan quits the special unit after the team wipes out a whole African village in search of a special metal and then goes off to live a quite life of peace in the Canadian Rockies with his school teacher girlfriend. She was actually a mutant called Silver Fox but Wolverine doesn't know that.

Wolverine and Silver Fox lives a quite live for 6 years when suddenly Major Stryker shows up in their lives and asks Logan to come back and be a part of a new project called Weapon X. Logan refuses the offer but when Creed shows up and murders her girlfriend he agrees.

Logan accepts the offer to be infused with Adamantium so that he can be indestructable and go after his revenge but is double crossed by Stryker and hears him give the order to wipe his memories. Escaping before this can happen, he goes searching for Creed killing anyone who gets in his way.

The best part in the movie would be the adamantium process. In Marvel Universe, adamantium is a special metal that cannot be destroyed in any way. Wolverine, having himself infused with it, becomes the ultimate indestructable weapon. His ability to heal himself rapidly helps a lot during the infusion process.

Sabretooth was played by Liev Schreiber, which manages to impress me with good acting and definetely good performance, to some extent even shadowing Hugh Jackman himself. His perfomance in the movie, Der Untergang aka Hitler : The rise of evil was also one of the best I've seen so far. If you haven't watched that one, you'd better. It's a good movie too.
